Teton XA Aeration Kit takes the guesswork out of pond aeration. Rather than sourcing a pump, finding compatible tubing, and hunting down the right air stones separately, every XA kit comes with the complete matched system — pump, airline tubing, ceramic air stones, and the fittings to connect it all.

At the heart of every XA kit is the XAP Series diaphragm air pump — the same professional-grade pump trusted by koi pond owners and contractors for its quiet operation, 24/7 reliability, and user-serviceable design. The XAP requires no oil, runs continuously without rest cycles, and when diaphragms eventually wear, they can be replaced in the field with original Teton parts.
Effective aeration protects fish year-round. In summer, rising water temperatures deplete dissolved oxygen — without adequate airflow, koi become stressed and beneficial bacteria slow down, affecting water quality. In winter, the XA kit keeps a vital opening in the ice surface for gas exchange, preventing the toxic gas buildup that can kill fish overnight.
Six kit sizes match ponds of every scale, from the XA20K for smaller water features up to the XA160K for large koi ponds and commercial-scale systems. Tubing on the XA40K and larger is self-weighted for secure placement
INSTALLATION GUIDE
The XA Aeration Kit installs in 3–4 simple steps. No specialist tools required for XA20K–XA80K. XA120K and XA160K require a flathead screwdriver, a knife, and a standard screwdriver for tightening clamps. Key placement and installation guidance:
- Place the air pump above water level, at least 6 ft from the water’s edge, in a dust-free, shaded area not prone to flooding
- If pump is installed below water level, a check valve is required to prevent water backflow into the pump
- XA20K: connect air tubing to air stones and 4-way manifold; attach rubber elbow to pump OUT port; connect manifold to elbow; open 2 of the 4 valve outlets
- XA40K–XA80K: clamp tubing to air stone; connect rubber elbow to pump OUT port; insert SHM3858 fitting into tubing and attach to elbow
- XA120K & XA160K: clamp tubing to both air stones; cut 6″ short piece for valve-to-pump connection; connect 2-way valve to tubing runs; attach rubber coupling elbow from valve to pump OUT port
- Place air stones in the desired area of the pond — on or near the bottom for maximum aeration coverage
- Plug into a GFCI-protected power supply — always use a drip loop on the power cord
- Keep tubing length within 30 ft per run — use 3/8″ or larger diameter for longer runs to reduce friction loss
MAINTENANCE
- Clean the XAP air filter sponge every 3 months — remove top cap, vacuum filter, reinstall. A clogged filter causes motor burnout and voids the warranty
- Inspect diaphragms if airflow drops or a ticking sound develops — replace using original Teton XAP diaphragm kits (see XAP product page for part numbers by model)
- Check air stone output periodically — reduced bubble production typically indicates clogged air stones; replace as needed
- Inspect tubing annually for brittleness, kinks, or algae buildup — replace if flow is restricted
