Teton XAP Aeration Pump Series is a lineup of professional-grade diaphragm air pumps designed to keep pond water oxygenated, healthy, and in balance — all year round. Available in six models from 20W to 155W, the XAP Series covers small backyard ponds and large commercial-scale koi systems alike.
Aeration is one of the most important factors in pond health. During summer, oxygen levels drop as water temperature rises — without adequate aeration, fish become stressed and beneficial bacteria cannot function at full capacity. During winter, the XAP keeps an opening in the ice for critical gas exchange, preventing toxic gas buildup that can kill fish overnight. XAP Series handles both demands without modification.
Every XAP model is engineered for quiet, continuous-duty operation. The weatherproof industrial plastic housing, internal air baffle, and extra buffer chamber on the outlet bring noise down significantly compared to basic air pumps. Dual rubber mounting feet absorb vibration at the source. The pump requires no oil lubrication — just clean, fresh air — and when diaphragms eventually show wear, replacement takes minutes with standard tools and original Teton diaphragm kits.
Install at least 6 feet from the water’s edge, above water level, in a shaded and dust-free location. Connect to a GFCI-protected power supply. Maximum recommended operating depth for air stones is 6 feet. Backed by a 2-year limited manufacturer’s warranty. Consumable parts (diaphragms, air filter) are not covered but are readily available as spare parts
INSTALLATION
Install the XAP Aeration Pump above water level, at least 6 ft (1.8 m) from the water’s edge, in a location free of dust, flooding, and extreme temperatures. Key installation and placement requirements:
- Install horizontally above water level — never submerge the pump
- Maintain at least 6 ft (1.8 m) distance from the water’s edge to prevent moisture intake
- Mount in a cool, shaded, well-ventilated location — restricting airflow will cause overheating and can permanently damage the motor
- Place on a flat, level surface — secure with a cable tie if vibration causes creep
- If pump is installed below water level, a check valve is required to prevent water backflow into the pump
- Keep tubing length within 30 ft (10 m) — for longer runs, use larger diameter tubing to minimise friction loss
- Do not use pump in conjunction with chemicals, solvents, gasoline, or flammable gases — pump is designed for clean atmospheric air only
- Connect to a GFCI-protected power supply — use the drip loop method to keep water off the plug
- Maximum operating depth for air stones: 6 ft (2 m) — exceeding this increases diaphragm wear and reduces pump life
MAINTENANCE
- Clean air filter sponge every 3 months (more often in dusty environments) — a clogged filter reduces airflow and can cause motor burnout; motor burnout caused by a clogged filter is not covered by warranty
- To clean filter: loosen the Phillips screw at the top of the housing, lift the filter cap, remove the sponge, and vacuum or rinse clean. Reinstall before use
- If airflow decreases noticeably or a ticking sound develops, check diaphragms immediately — worn or torn diaphragms must be replaced before continued operation
- To replace diaphragm: remove 4 rubber legs and screws from lower housing, pry open upper housing, loosen 4 casing block screws, remove old diaphragm, install new one, reassemble. Only use original Teton diaphragm kits
- Inspect power cord regularly for damage — do not operate with a damaged cord
