Teton XC Series Mag Drive Pump is built for pond owners who want reliable, quiet, energy-efficient water movement without the complexity of a direct drive pump. The magnetic drive motor is the defining advantage: no mechanical shaft seal means no seal to wear out, no oil contamination risk near fish, and significantly lower energy consumption per GPH compared to equivalent direct drive pumps.
The XC Series is an amphibious design — it operates equally well fully submersed at the bottom of a pond or skimmer box, or installed inline outside the water. This flexibility makes it suitable for a wide range of installation scenarios including tight skimmer vaults, external filter housings, and pump-to-waterfall configurations without a dedicated pump basin.
SmartMAG® automatic motor protection is the standout safety feature. The built-in dry-run detection system shuts the pump down automatically when water level drops too low, then restarts once water returns — protecting the motor without any manual intervention. The replaceable mag-drive impeller means the pump is user-serviceable for long-term value. A 32 ft power cord and moveable footplate give installation flexibility. NPT threaded inlet and discharge accept standard plumbing connections on all models. 2-year warranty.
Magnetic Drive Operation
- An electromagnet in the sealed motor housing creates a rotating magnetic field.
- This field drives a ceramic impeller that is the only moving part — no direct mechanical connection between motor and impeller, eliminating shaft seals.
- Water is drawn in through the large intake screen and pushed out through the NPT discharge at flow rates from 1,500 to 5,900 GPH.
- SmartMAG® sensor continuously monitors water presence. If the impeller runs without sufficient water, the system triggers automatic shutdown within seconds.
Once water returns to an adequate level, the pump automatically restarts — no user action required.
Installation Options
XC Series can be installed in two ways: (1) Submersed at the pond bottom or inside a skimmer box — the most common installation; (2) Inline above water in an external filter housing or pump vault, with water fed by gravity or a flooded suction connection. Use the moveable footplate to adjust orientation. NPT threaded connections suit both configurations. For submersed installation, maintain adequate depth above the intake to prevent dry-running.
